Jack and Jimmy appeared in the first issue of Score 'n' Roar. 'Jack of United' started off in the Score part of the comic and 'Jimmy of City' was in Roar, the second part of the comic. Score 'n' Roar appeared for 41 issues and when it merged with Scorcher the 'Jack of United' and 'Jimmy of City' stories joined Scorcher on 3rd July 1971. Scorcher finally merged with Tiger on 12th October 1974, but unfortunately that saw the end of the what was by then the 'Jack and Jimmy' story. (The Jack of United and Jimmy of City stories merged on 25th August 1973).

The stories below start from that first issue on 19th September 1970. The 'Jack of United' and 'Jimmy of City' stories will be shown alternately on a Monday.

Jack of United! Jimmy of City!
19th September 1970 - Jack and Jimmy both go for a trial with Castleburn United. 19th September 1970 - Jimmy, turned down by Castleburn United, walks into the game of his life.
26th September 1970 - Jack stars for the reserves and in training, but he isn't welcomed by everyone!. 26th September 1970 - Jimmy also stands out for the reserves and gets his chance to star on a bigger stage!
3rd October 1970 - Jack makes his debut against arch rivals Castleburn City. 3rd October 1970 - Jimmy is determined to even the scores for City in the big City-United derby game!
10th October 1970 - Jack drops down to the bench for United, as Len Wilson returns to the team. 10th October 1970 - With Jimmy on fine form Castleburn City challenge to go top of the table.
17th October 1970 - Jack comes on as substitute and stars in defence and attack! 17th October 1970 - Jimmy's a real match winner for City helping himself to a hat-trick!
24th October 1970 - Jack takes things cautiously, but is worried that his place in the United team is in doubt! 24th October 1970 - City play Sandport and look in danger of being beaten because of the colour of the opposition's kit!
 31st October 1970 - Jack scores a goal in both nets! Is he trying to impress too much?  31st October 1970 - There is still confusion with Jimmy's team mates as City look like loosing!
 7th November 1970 - Jack is destined not to catch the bus to training, but who is the mysterious character who gives him a lift? 7th November 1970 -  City change their kit and superstitious Sailor Watson is horrified, as he believes it will bring bad luck!
 14th November 1970 - Jack tells the sports reporter nothing and there are rumours that Jack's position in the team is under threat! 14th November 1970 -  Trying to win over Sailor Watson, Jimmy creates his own luck and City go three goals ahead!
 21st November 1970 - Jack plays his heart out to prove he doesn't need replacing but Jack finds out United intend to bid £100,000 for Dennis Hornby from Brockham. 21st November 1970 - Jimmy is asked to mark Brockham's Dennis Hornby and he relishes the challenge as he aims to help his brother Jack, by playing him out of the game!
 28th November 1970 - Jack plays a great defensive midfield game, but United manager Eric Mills,  is not there to witness it! 28th November 1970 - Eric Mills goes to see Dennis Hornby in action, but Jimmy puts pressure on him and Hornby gets rattled!
 5th December 1970 - United manager Eric Mills realises that Dennis Hornby, has not got the temperament to play for United. Back at the United game, Jimmy has a cracker and United win 1-0.  5th December 1970 - With Brockham down to 10 men, Jimmy becomes the star of the show giving their defence a gruelling time. He makes the first 2 goals and scores the 3rd, giving City a 3-0 victory.
12th December 1970 - Prior to the derby game in the league, the brothers find out they are drawn against each other in the cup as well! The league game starts and the brothers initially cancel each other out! 12th December 1970 - United have the early advantage but City get a free kick and some quick thinking by Jimmy brings him back on side and allows him a free run to set himself up for the equaliser!
19th December 1970 - Jack causes City all sorts of problems and the City players don't know what Jack will do next! Thanks to Jack, United go ahead 2-1. 19th December 1970 -Jimmy and Jack battle it out ending with Jimmy scraping a goal. Jack's last ditch tackle sees them both go off injured!
26th December 1970 - United play on Christmas Eve and turn on the style against Northstone United to make it a Christmas to celebrate! 26th December 1970 - It's early Christmas morning -Jimmy plays Santa Claus and the whole family play football in the snow!
2nd January 1971 - It's the build up to the 3rd round cup tie between United and City, Jimmy passes his fitness test and Jack has a different way to prepare, to try and gain an edge in the game! 2nd January 1971 - The match is underway and as soon as United take the lead City equalise! Both Jack and Jimmy are on the score sheet, with Jimmy grabbing a quick hat-trick!
9th January 1971 - Jimmy tries to control the game, but Jack second guesses every move Jimmy makes! There is a winning goal but who scores it........ 9th January 1971 - Jack and Jimmy  enjoy the life of a footballer and start to spend their money. However, one of the brothers is more adept at saving his money than the other!
16th January 1971 - Jack has to referee the Castleburn 5 a side tournament instead of his manager Eric Mills, but he soon finds out life isn't easy as a ref! 16th January 1971 - Jack becomes worried about the way Jimmy is spending his money, and he thinks Jimmy will become a target for every conman in Castleburn!
23rd January 1971 - Eric Mills rescues Jack from his refereeing duties and United go goal crazy in a league match against Ironcastle. 23rd January 1971 - Jimmy and Castleburn City are up against a goalkeeping giant! Eric Mills is also here to watch the game.
30th January 1971 - United watch a film show and play five a side in preparation for their 4th round tie against Abbotstown Albion. 30th January 1971 - Jimmy keeps a proposed football boot deal from his brother Jack, but is all as it seems............
6th February 1971 - Abbottown Albion's exceptionally tall goalkeeper, Lew Long, who United have worked out how to score past is sidelined with a wrist injury. 6th February 1971 - Jimmy and his team mates test some new football boots in an away game against Stockburn, but the heavy rain causes Jimmy's boots to split!.
13th February 1971 - Abbottown Albion's replacement goalkeeper has a huge throw, luckily for United, Jack is wise to this and saves a certain goal from - but can United win the match? 13th February 1971 - Jimmy gets criticised for the state of the team's boots, as they all fall apart in the wet. The team change them at half time, but what will the second half bring....?.
20th February 1971 - Jack spots Abbottown Albion's goalkeeper is right handed and takes advantage by scoring a goal on his weaker side! 20th February 1971 - Jimmy is desperate to win the game in the awful conditions, so as not to let his team down because of the boots.
27th February 1971 - United get drawn in the FA Cup against giant killers Smallbridge Swifts and Jack is worried they might spring a surprise! 27th February 1971 - Jimmy is intent on revenge and sets out to follow 'Trickey'. Castleburn City then play  Marshness and run riot!
6th March 1971 - United play Smallbridge Swifts on an icy pitch, in a 5th round FA Cup tie and the Swifts take the lead! 6th March 1971 - City are all over Bilford, but cannot score much to Jimmy's frustration! Then there is a last minute winner..........
13th March 1971 - As one side of the pitch begins to thaw, United use that to their advantage and Jack's last minute goal forces a replay against the non-league opposition! 13th March 1971 - City are at home to Longwich, Jimmy is a marked man and gives away an own goal! In despair he writes to the manager asking to be dropped!
20th March 1971 - Jack inspires United to a second half goalscoring performance against non-league Smallbridge Swifts, to continue their Cup run. 20th March 1971 - Jimmy, feeling he was to blame writes to manager Ian Clark asking to be dropped! Brother Jack and Ian try and talk Jimmy into playing the next game.
27th March 1971 - United play Coldmere in the 6th Round of the FA Cup. Coldmere have a lucky mascot and it helps them to a 1-1 draw, with Jack scoring the only goal. 27th March 1971 - With a little help from team mate Trevor Scott, Jimmy tries to regain his confidence, by getting on the score sheet, but nothing is going to plan!
3rd April 1971 - Jack is besieged with people offering their pets as mascots for Castleburn United following Jack's comment on a TV interview. However, United's Press Officer has a plan! 3rd April 1971 - Castleburn City have hit a bad patch and Jimmy has a lack of confidence, which he soon rectifies with the winner against 2nd placed Landchester Town. This gives City a four point lead.
10th April 1971 - Doug Penfold's plan is to allow the fans to choose the club's mascot at the next home game. However, as the mascots are stored away during the first half, they are in a mischievous mood! 10th April 1971 - Castleburn City's assistant coach, Wally Oakes spots a weakness in the Marleton goalie's game and Jimmy and his team mates exploit it to great success. Wally vows to pass on his knowledge to Jimmy.
17th April 1971 - The potential mascots invade the pitch and stop play temporarily, but that doesn't stop Jack and United going on and winning to take them to the semi final of the cup. The winning mascot is also revealed! 17th April 1971 - Assistant coach, Wally Oakes lends Jimmy his book of football knowledge compiled from his many years in the game. However, when he comes to return the book to Wally he cannot find it and fears his sister has thrown it away!.
24th April 1971 - Jack ends up taking 'Lucky' the new club mascot home to stay with his family, as Eric Mills insists that Jack looks after it! Meanwhile the United players step up their training for the Cup semi final. 24th April 1971Jimmy looses Wally's book. He searches his house in vain and goes to the match in a worried state. Consequently he has a bad game and the manager is concerned about Jimmy's form.
1st May 1971 - Jack's sister Pat is offered a surprise role with United and the game against Millgate Rovers starts off with a popped ball and a disallowed goal! 1st May 1971Jimmy is off form and misses chance after chance which come his way. . After the game he seeks out sister Pat who hopefully has the answer he is seeking!
8th May 1971 - Pat gives her brother Clive a lesson in the laws of football, but can brother Jack help guide United to Wembley? Will Lucky the mascot live up to her name? 8th May 1971Jimmy confronts Pat and finds Wally's book, but he can't return it to Wally as he is away. In the next game against Ironcastle, Jimmy realises he needs Wally's help.
15th May 1971 - Castleburn United have reached the FA Cup Final at Wembley and the club's mascot, 'Lucky' the donkey disappears whilst in Jack's care! 15th May 1971Jimmy struggles against Ironcastle's Roger Dale, but when Wally's turns up at half time, he Jimmy finds out Dale's weakness and it turns out to be a different second half!
22nd May 1971 - Jack and Jimmy go in search of 'Lucky' the donkey and find it in the headmasters garden. Jack then dashes to Wembley where Castleburn United kick off against Stockburn in the Cup Final. 22nd May 1971 City have one game to win to secure the Championship, with the prize of playing in a tournament in South America.  Their last game is against Westhill and they get off to a disastrous start....
29th May 1971 - Whichever, club wins the FA Cup, takes part in a summer tournament of of European Champions. Can Jack lead United to glory? 29th May 1971 City come out for the second half one goal down and led by Jimmy, start to attack a jaded Westhill - have they enough time to pull off the win they need?
5th June 1971 - Castleburn United having won the League Championship are invited to take part in the summer tournament. They arrive early in South America, but is someone watching them? 5th June 1971 City play an exhibition match in the Caribbean, on their way to the tournament in South America. They win the exhibition match but they are in for a surprise when they arrive for the tournament.
12th June 1971 - United take an early lead in their first game but this infuriates the President of Paragalia, who wants them to loose! 12th June 1971 Jimmy rescues the luggage which has been thrown into the hotel's swimming pool. However, he is upset when his team mates think his brother Jack is behind it!
